Freedom to Learn Film Forum

Wednesday, May 03
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Little Theater

As part of the Freedom to Learn Day of Action across the US, the film forum is screening "Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power" Wednesday, May 3 at 7 pm in the Little Theater.

In 1965, in Lowndes County Alabama, 80% of the residents were Black but not a single one was registered to vote. This documentary recounts how the county's Black residents organized to defend their right to vote in the face of entrenched white supremacy.

It's a moving story of local democracy and the ongoing struggle for freedom and equality. Many today are working to prevent students from learning stories like this. Watch this great film and learn about important history.
