BYUH Plaza Construction

Wednesday, September 07 - Tuesday, October 31

Jacobsen Construction is working to demolish the Cafeteria building and construct a new plaza. There will be no entering and exiting the walkway between the Cafeteria and the Aloha Center.

A portion of the Academic Oval and the area between the McKay Building and the old cafeteria building will be fenced off from the sidewalk leading to the Banyan Dining Hall temporary main entrance across from McKay Gym & Pool to the corner of the Cannon Activities Center across from the Ballroom.

With the expanded construction area for the BYUH plaza project, parking and traffic on the Academic Oval will be modified for the anticipated eight to 10 months of the project.

  • Parking between Hale 1 and the Banyan Dining Hall garden will still be available to students, faculty, and staff with a BYUH parking permit.
  • Parking will not be available in front of the McKay Gymnasium & Pool to allow construction equipment and delivery trucks to enter as needed.
  • Parking between the Lorenzo Snow Administration Building and the Ballroom is also available to faculty and staff with a BYUH parking permit. Vehicles can enter the Academic Oval from that side, contrary to the regular traffic direction.

Since the Academic Oval is closed to through traffic, drivers should be cautious as traffic will need to flow in both directions as vehicles enter and exit the areas using the same lane.
