The submission deadline has been changed from Saturday, September 30 to Wednesday, October 4 at 1 pm.
The Honor Week 2023 theme is “together in unity.” which is found in the scripture, Mosiah 18:21. Rooted in honesty, respect, and uplifting others, this event fosters creative expression in writing, art, and music. The aim is to encourage deep contemplation on the theme of "honor," allowing students to develop their talents while nurturing spiritual experiences.
To prepare for the upcoming Honor Week on the week of October 9 with the theme "Together in Unity," the Office of Honor is organizing the Creative Expression Contest. Rooted in honesty, respect, and uplifting others, this event fosters creative expression in writing, art, and music.
All students are invited to participate and submit one of the following:
- Creative Writing
A Word document or PDF. The maximum word count for short stories is 750 words. - Art Work
PDF/JPG file. A painting no larger than 18 inches by 24 inches and should be ready to mount. - Music Composition
MP3, MP4/ Music Video, and a Word document of PDF of the lyrics. Music composition should be less than 3 minutes.
Requirements
For the art and music expressions, students will be asked to provide the context, background, or story that describes their piece in 200 words or less.
To ensure the veracity and equity of the appraisal and assessment processes, the submitted works will undergo blind evaluations by faculty members, coupled with anonymous voting by students. Within each distinct category, a pair of winners will be selected, and awards shall be bestowed upon the first and second rankings. Students are cordially invited to partake in the adjudication of preferred artworks and musical compositions, facilitated through a comprehensive and meticulously designed survey instrument, the access link to which shall be publicly disclosed in the month of October.
Two winners will be chosen with the first winner receiving $150 and the runner-up receiving $100. Submit your work by Wednesday, October 4, at 1 pm to the Office of Honor.
