Commencement Schedule

  • 8:00 am: Cannon Activities Center doors open 
  • 8:00 am: Graduates assemble in the Aloha Center Ballroom for the academic procession 
  • 9:00 am: Family and friends to be seated in the Cannon Activities Center 
  • 9:15 am: Academic procession departs from the Aloha Center 
  • 9:30 am: Commencement exercises begin 
  • Lei giving to follow outside the CAC at the conclusion of the ceremony

About the Speaker

Elder Brook P. Hales was called as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 15, 2018, at age 62. At the time of his call, he was working as secretary to the First Presidency. He previously worked as assistant secretary to the First Presidency from 1997 to 2008.

Elder Hales received a banking and finance degree from Weber State College in 1980. After graduating, he worked in commercial bank operations and in the Church’s Finance and Records Division.

Elder Hales has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the France Paris Mission, bishop, stake president, and temple sealer.

He and his wife Denise Imlay Hales are the parents of four children.
